I am pleased to confirm your reappointment to the Committee
on International Security and Arms Control for a three year term
beginning on July 1, 1986.

I want to take this opportunity to express my personal
appreciation for your dedicated participation in the work of
this Committee, which I consider to be one of the most important
activities of the Academy. I recognize that your contribution
has been a major factor in the success of the Committee's
meetings with the Soviet Academy on issues of international
security and arms control. I am particularly grateful for your
successful initiation of a dialogue on BW with the Soviet
Academy.

There is one procedural matter to which I must call your
attention. As required in the appointment of Committee members,
