You will receive theJattached letter in a few days, but I should
like to give you a word of explanation in advance.

WHO is bound by an agreement with the United States Government
for appointees to Expert Advisory Panels to have a security clearance
through the State Department. This involves the filling out of
standard forms. It is possible that you already have the security
clearance in the light of the work you are doing on “exobiology" so
that the completion of the forms may not be necessary. This is
decided at the State Department. I hope you are not further disturbed
about the matter but, in any event, I wanted you to have this information.
