Thank you for your letter of August 17 and the brief account of the
work developed under contract No. HSM-42-70-44, "Critical Issues in
Mental Health and the Behavioral Sciences."

We are delighted that our modest financial support has enabled you to
analyze data and prepare documentation, some of which has resulted in
the publications enclosed in your letter.

George Coelho and I look forward to reading the additional reports you
hope to produce.

It might be useful in the near future to get together with you and

Dave on any supplementary report you both might wish to make to provide
further input to the study of critical issues in mental health and the
behavioral sciences. Of special interest will be the progress reports
and publications resulting from your innovative program at the Center
for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences.

Incidentally, I did talk with Bert Brown about the suggestion you had
regarding the paint and lead poisoning problem. He did not seem
particularly encouraging and I was not able to pursue it further. As
you know, the whole matter continues to get attention. You might want
to make a more formal proposal to Bert himself.

Sorry we will not see you at the September Council; needless to say
we will miss you.
