THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE Madison 6 DEPARTMENT OF GENETICS August 25, 1947 Dr. Joshua Lederberg Marine Biological Laboratory Woods Hole, Massachusetts Dear Dr. Lederberg: I was very pleased on arriving at the office this morning to find your acceptance of the Assistant Professorship recently offered you. We look forward to your association with our group and are keenly in- terested in the developments which your decision now open up. We would like to send forward to the Administration the recom mendation for your appointment at once. Would you, therefore, provide us with the data called for on the attached form (Personnel Information) and return the form promptly. I have been working this morning on some of the items of equipment and supplies which we discussed briefly with you. It would be advis~ able probably in adwance of your coming to notify you as requisitions are written of what it is proposed to purchase. Should any of the pro-~ posed items be deemed unsuitable you could then let us know in time to head off a purchase order. Plans for obtaining the major items of ap- paratus not needed immediately can best be deferred until your arrival in September. Do you think it would be advisable to submit to me in advance of your coming a list of the chemical suoplies required for your work which will probably have to be ordered outside? The University store- room stocks only the items commonly used, particularly for leboratory classes. I assume that catalogs will be available to you at the Marine Biological Laboratory. With best wishes to you and Mrs. Lederberg, I am Sincerely yours, RC. Mee R. A. Brink Professor of Genetics RAB/s Encs.
