On the eve of the historic Senate debate of the INF treaty,
the Center for Strategic and International Studies invites you to
a presentation of its net assessment of the post-INF balance in
Europe. This assessment has recently been shared with a number
of European leaders including Prime Minister Thatcher, West
German Defense Minister Woerner, and the Permanent
Representatives of the NATO Council. Senator Sam Nunn has asked
that it be used as a conceptual framework for the INF hearings of
the Senate Armed Services Committee, which begin January 25.

Our New York presentation will be Friday, January 22, 1988,

in the Union League Club, 38 East 37th Street, over lunch, noon
to 2 p.m.

I realize that this is short notice, but believe the
uniqueness of this CSIS contribution to the national policy
debate warrants the urgency of this meeting. You are cordially
