It concerned the coverage of the journal by Current Contents. Apparently at that time the publisher and the ISI people were not in agreement regar= ding a certain fee that ISI now asks for covering a new jour= nal. I understand that Elsevier is now willing to pay such a fee as well as to send the required complimentary copies. Yet it appears that it is not at all certain whether CC will index the journal. There is something misterious in all this business that is eluding me. Could you give me an advice con= cerning what I should do in order to settle this matter? I may add that from the articles that will appear in the first three or four issues, it seems to me that the scientific standard of the journal is pretty good and, as compared to the similar international journals dealing with plant, biology, it is defi= nitely above the average. I have got a note from Ron inquiring about the financial possibilities for him here in Pavia. I think that he may be paid on the money that we have here for the Stanford people as it was done for Mark Skolnick,. The chlorine project is giving us plenty of troubles as the weproducibility of the results seems to be an almost unat= tainable goal. Best regards to all of you. Ciao WpukulL (5 /
