Dear Professor Lederberg:

Marjorie Grene has asked me to send you the
enclosed draft of our forthcoming applieation
to the National Endowment of the Humanities.

It is still quite incomplete, without appendix,
the organizational side much in need of
revision (on which we are working) and not
aided in its exposition by an approeching
deadline.

I have also commented on this proposal to
your colleague Gordon Craig, in History, who
is an old friend and has at any rate inter-
disciplinary interests.

On another matter: we have a monthly meeting
of a Science Colloquium dealing with questions
of science policy. Would your schedule permit
meeting with this group one evening sometime
during this academic year? We would greatly
appreciate it, if you could make this possible.
I am asking my secretary to send you our
minutes of last year to give you an impression.
I shall call you in a few weeks when you have
had a chance to look it over.
