Dear Josh:

Thank you for your note and the letter from Orio Ciferri. I have turned
it over to my colleague, Dr. Thomas Tolbert, who is responsible for extramural
programs at Monsanto. I have indicated to him that I should very much like the
program to be supported if funds are available. He will make a decision promptly
and will write to Dr. Ciferri.

Turning to personal matters, 1 am delighted to learn that your daughter,
Anne, is at Ethical Midtown. I went to Brooklyn Ethical and thence to Fieldston.
My wife and I occasionally attend Sunday services at the Ethical Society in St.
Louis which has an absolutely beautiful meeting house in Clayton. As far as Anne
Ephrussi is concerned, my daughter, Anne Schneiderman, who is a graduate student
~—irrfeuroscience at Harvard Medical School, saw her several months ago. I confess
that I do not know exactly what Anne Ephrussi's present circumstances are.

I do hope that our paths will cross before too long. Please accept my warmest
good wishes to you and your family for a fine Holiday Season and a happy year
to come. ,
