Dear Josh,

I have no records of the 1946 CSH Symp., but I have a vivid
recollection of that meeting, or perhaps a later one, at which
you presented an overwhelming amount of material. My
recollection is complicated by the fact that I was in the New
York Hospital with Tb picked up in the lab when Dubos came back
from a CSH meeting with news of your announcement of
recombination. After I recovered I attended a CSH Symp. at which
you described, in an extra evening session, one after another
fascinating experiment. It went on for hours, until perhaps 11
PM, with a good-sized audience fixed in place despite the hour.
