THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AUSTIN 12 DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY March 16, 1948 Dr. Joshua Lederberg Department of Genetics University of Wisconsin College of Agriculture Madison 6, Wisconsin Dear Dr. Lederberg: Thank you for your letter and your criticisms. We will try to clear up some of the points you raised. We have considered using phage resistance but have not anyone here who is used to working with this technique. Perhaps we can send one of our men for a training course this summer. We have not done any more on the problem of specific mutations end are leaving it until we get the equipment to work on specific compounds. We have rather limited facilities here and so make the best of what we have. I am enclosing the catalase paper. You can return it at any time you choose, but we would like your comments and criticisms as soon as you have time to make them. » Yours sincerely, Wilson §. Stone Professor of Zoology WSS/1k enclosure
