Dear Doctor Lederberg:

I saw your request in the SAB Newsletter, and I am sending you en-
closed 4 cultureswhich I took from primary stool plates because they
look like lactose variants of some Escherichia.

Unfortunately, I am so pressed wy other work, that I have no time
to determine the psotion of these culture, nor even their purity ¢y,
not to speak their mutation rate. But these are things, which you tan
easily do, and I would suppose, that the one or other of these culture
would be suitable for your purpose.

If this should be the case, and if you want more cultures of this
kind, I should be glad to collect some more for you.
