Dear Prof. Burkhardt

"immune dysfunction" is plausible, but as that is an outcome of
other pathological processes (e.g. HIV infection most notoriusly)

it rather begs the question to invoke it. Mercury and Chagas

might be among the etiologies to consider; and a whole field of
neuroimmunopsychiatry 1s emerging to deal with the psychosomatic
boundary.

I'll ask around NYC among my colleagues to see who might be
commended to take a closer look.
