You are right, Max and Jean seemed to have no compunctions about working or publishing on lambda, while we were still trying to digest our findings. I have no other specific recollection, except that I had always found Salva to be trustworthy and considerate in matters of this kind. The earliest written reference to Weigle I can find , 1/31/51, is in a letter from Bill Hayes which I will send you. The Pasteur group Elic in particular, was quite eager , to assimilate K-12 recombination to phage. But I have trouble finding written record of that.
