Yale Univer sity New Haven, Connecticut 06510 SCHOOL OF MEDICINE 333 Cedar Street Department of Human Genetics June 23, 1975 Dr. Edward L. Tatrun Rockefeller University New York, N.Y. 10021 Dear Ed: Bill Ogata mentioned to me that you will be leaving Rockefeller soon and that you have some old E. coli stocks which you would like to deposit in the E. coli Genetic Stock Center. Unfortunately, he told me this just as I was leaving for Europe for six weeks on a trip to collect strains and pedigrees, so that this is the first opportunity that I have had to respond to this suggestion. On calling your laboratory yesterday, I discovered that you are now in Europe for a month. I hope that we can arrange to discuss these strains, however briefly, upon your returm. I am hoping that you still have cultures of some of the earliest E. coli K-12 mutants available. If so, I would very much appreciate receiving them for the Stock Center collection. Josh Lederberg was able to supply us with only a few of the early Yale and Stanford mutants. For example, we do not have the strains 58, 679 or 679-680, which we certainly should have. If there is time when you return, I would be happy to come down and look over the strains. If this is not possible, perhaps you could ask someone to send me a list of what is in the collection. I understand that you are moving back to California. This should be ‘a pleasant change from New York City, and I wish you every happiness there. With best regards, j2 fs Barbara J. Bachmann BJB/ph
