Dear Chancellor Weir --
That it has taken a scandalously long time for me to reply is pathognomic -- a too heavy travel schedule, and a shorthanded office staff at this time.
I think the Beckman Institute development is wonderful; and I know more than a little about it. But I'm sorry, my plate is too heavily burdened already. I do wish you all the very best!

In the 1950's I used to visit Urbana fairly often (I was at Madison; Luria was there, and my brother Seymour took his Ph.D. in 1955. So my sentiments are unabashedly positive.) Too bad that doesn't amplify time.
