Dear Josh:

Once again, I am in your debt for speaking
out in support of the Whitehead Institute at the
meeting of the Bar Association yesterday.

It certainly gets to be absurd when after
both you and I tried to make the point, this gentle-
man defended himself by saying he thought the con-
ference was to be about "Industrial" retations
with universities.

As I suggested, I am sending you a copy of
my talk. I would be particularly interested in
your views on the concluding remarks, as I believe
there is great merit to this idea. If there is,
it should be taken up by the science universities,
and a strong political lobbying effort should be

made.
