J JOHN J, McCLoy ONE CHASE MANHATTAN PLAZA NEW YORE, N. Y. 10005 September 19’, 1980 Dear Mr. Lederberg: Thank you very much for your note of September 16th. I have heard at various times that Allen Dulles felt that his reports on the German Resistance were not given the attention that they deserved, and I note there were some in the Department who were disposed to discount the motives of some of the participants. I spent a good bit of time seeking out the survivors and I gained a very high opinion of both their courage and their motivation. Some of the women were quite as outstanding as the men. My son wrote a thesis on the subject of the German Resistance and von Schlabrendorff wrote a preface to it. I do not have a copy at hand at the moment. I am just back from a quick trip abroad and I have a rather heavy immediate schedule but I shall take the advantage of your suggestion to have lunch with you, as I shall be very happy indeed to exchange some thoughts at this rather transistional period of our history. Thank you for writing me. Sincerely, Syl, Mr. Joshua Lederberg, President The Rockefeller University 1230 York Avenue New York, New York 10021 SON! s..name:....
