I am sorry it was not possible for you to attend as those who did were most pleased with the results. All the feedback we received from scientists as well as members of the medical public and others who attended the conference was that the quality of the science presented was excellent, that the conference provided an opportunity to hear about new developments that otherwise may not have been available for some- time and that the work presented was both important and exciting. I have enclosed copies of the abstracts prepared for that conference for your interest. As you may know, the proceedings are being published in textbook form by the Alan Liss publishing company and we hope to have that text available in the Spring. Because of the response from the public to the Boston conference as well as to our Science Writers Seminar held at Rockefeller University in October, we are considering producing a lay version of the text. The New York and Boston conferences and the anticipated publications are among the topics whiah will be addressed at our December 9th Board meeting. I am sorry that you will not be able to join us for that discussion. However, if you have any comments that you would like to have discussed at that time, please let me know. I will certainly let you know the results of the Board meeting and keep you informed about other new develop- ments regarding FIBER. The members of the Board of Directors and Science Advisory Board who have attended our recent events have expressed to me their great pleasure in seeing the concrete developments of the compilation of FIBER's interests and work up to this time. We seem now to have gained some momentum as well as an enlarged following which we trust will allow us to carry on in an even bigger and better way in the future.
