I am writing to you at the suggestion of Francis Crikky whom I saw the other
day.

Row ald Duncan and I have compiled two volumes of THE ENCYCLOPAEDIA
OF IGNORANCE (to the second of which Crick contributed). These books
are collections of essays by world-famous scientists on what they DON'T
know. The essays attempt to look beyond the horizon of our current
knowledge. . ‘

I enclose a leaflet about these books.

We are now compiling a third volume. It will focus on our ignorance
about the mind and body and in the medical area.

I am writing to you now to ask you whether you might be willing to SY
consider contributing to this book?

Thés volume, like the previous two, is to be published by the Pergamon
Press. They will pay contributors $150 for each copgribution. The
essays are to be of about three thousand words in length. We hope to
go to press on 1 March 1979.

I shall be in New York from 17-21 September - perhaps I might contact
you then ?
