Thank you for your recommendations of Barbara Joyce Bachmann and Fay Ajzenberg-
Selove for the National Academy of Sciences Award for Scientific Reviewing. Most
unfortunately, they arrived after the deadline, which was September 30, for the 1990 award
(which, in any case, was in botany), and the field for 1991 will not be physics or genetics, but
chemistry. It’s too bad--we would like to have some highly qualified female nominees!
