Lederberg, Department of Genetics, Stanford University Medical School, PALO ALTO, California 94304. U.S.A. My dear Josh, Further to recent correspondence between us, I can now tell you that Mac Burnet is planning to travel to the States on his way to Europe next April. He would very much like to have the chance of catching up with you again, and possibly of giving a lecture at Stanford concerning his recent theories on aging. I know furthermore that he would gain a lot of benefit from getting your criticism of his work. While the dates for his trip are not yet absolutely firm, he is thinking of a three day stay in the San Francisco Bay area very shortly after Easter, i.e. somewhere in the period 15th to 18th of April. As you probably recall, Mac is not particularly worldly, and I think he would feel happier about the trip if your office could give a little bit of help about local accommodation arrangements, and of course, more particularly, if you could issue some kind of an official invitation. Whatever you decide about this matter, please get in touch directly with Mac who is still located in the Department of Microbiology, University of Melbourne. Warm good wishes and looking forward to seeing you in June. Yours as
