Dear Josh,

Try to forgive me for taking so long to answer your
letter about a memoir for FJR. TI will be happy to do
anyhhing that I can but if the memoir will concern itself
Mainly with his scientific axcomplishments, you and Kim
would be ideal. I could add thnigs about his life at
Columbia but I am not sure that such items would be useful--
we tend to make memoirs and the like ceremonial affairs and
systematically exclude the personal and social factors that

may be unhappy (especially to others who might read the memoir)
tho of great importance.

I have also been trying to get Ken Cooper to say whether
or not he would help since = he knows so much about the days
before you knew FJR but I have not gotten a very clear answer.
I gather that he once wrote you in detail aboyt Francis.
