Enclosed you may find a ‘progress report' on my work on mcterial
genetics, prepared on the basis of our conversation of the 29th.It is
of course understood that the allegations made an this report are subject
to modification in the course of the research; it is intended only to convey
a notion as to the status of the problem, rather than to be a publishable
set of claims.For tmt reason, I mve omitted many relevant details, and
some of the arguments may nob appear to be entirely rigorous,

While I do not know now the date of the resumption of classes next
Fall, I would suggest Sept. 15 1947 as a reasonable date for the termination
of the extension of my fellowshkp whic} I hereby request.
