Dear Don:

Ata recent meeting of the Board of the Center for Advanced Study
in the Behavioral Sciences, Josh Lederberg (also a member of that Board)
and [ talked briefly about programs that may develop at Rockefeller
University under his leadership. (As lam sure you know, Josh succeeded
Fred Seitz as President of Rockefeller University in 1978.) In particular,
one idea Josh is considering is to encourage more work in the area of
science policy. From this perspective, he has an evident interest in
learning something about the programs of the Woodrow Wilson School,
thoughts you might nave on this subject, and conceivably possibilities
for cooperation. Accordingly, I promised to alert you to this set of
interests and to ask if you would try to find a time when you and Josh
might talk, It might also make sense to include Bob Jahn from the School
of Engineering and Applied Science in these conversations.
