February 14, 1963 Dr. E. L. Tatum The Rockefeller Institute 66th St. & York Avenue New York 21, New York Dear Ed, One of my graduate students, Stuart Brody, would like to do his postdoctoral work with you, if you have space for him. He should finish here ear ly in the fall. He is interested in the recent work from your lab and would like to work on some aspect of cell structure in relation to function. He did his undergraduate work at MIT in the biology department and has a strong background in modern biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics and math. He is very bright and extremely enthusiastic, and stimulating to have in the lab. He is imaginative and has done a fine job of the problems he has tackled with me. I would say that he holds his own in comparison with the better postdoctorals I have had with me recently. He is responsible for all of the suppressor studies of the past few years. I have no reservations in recommending him. He was also interested in working with Norton Zinder and I wrote to Norton first, but he replied that he wouldn't be able to take him next year, If there is a possibility that you will have space for Brody, I will have him send you any additional information you might require. With best regards, Sincerely, Charles Yanofsky C¥: dm
