Although the Hawaii RMP sought and received approval for a fourth year of funding, the project was terminated when the RMP's funding level was not increased in fiscal year 1972. The Regional Advisory Group in Hawaii has since taken the position that it will not support the project, even with increased furding unless: so directed by the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. Is now self supporting ’ Hawaii . $15,000 granted to the Center by WWETH Laboratories RMPS is concerned with assisting all the RMP's in developing comprehensive treatment programs for their regions. This includes emergency medical services, kidney diseases, rural health, program development and categorical activities in cardiovascular diseases, chronic pulmonary diseases, etc. To assist in this, RMPS works with a number of pro- fessional and voluntary health agencies in developing standards, guidelines, etc. Recently active dialogue has begun with a group representing the directors of pediatric pulmonary centers to advise RMPS staff in ways to assist in improving care for patients with chronic pulmonary diseases. There have been several meetings and phone calls to further their effort. In addition RMPS is working with the National Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association concerning other chronic pulmonary standards.
