Cady, Jr., M.D., Chairman of JAREA V COMMITTEE ON SYSTEMS AND COMPUTERS, attended the "Symposium on Health" gdponsored by the Operations Research Society of America (known as ORSA) held May {14-16 at the campus of the National Bureau of Standards in Gaithersburg, Maryldnd. He reports: "The audience was composed primarily ot ORSA members, of which 200 are members of its Health Applications Section-+only a few representatives of RMP were present. John R. Hall, who is ‘in charge of the grants program in Health Services Research and Development in the Hs of HEW, was prominent in the organizing committee of this conference. | . i >| : alf-day sessions,to give ORSA's response to Manpower and The Commission on Health Facilities, Each session began with a presentation concerning problems in medical care by a Chairman of one of the Confmission's Committees, followed by a speaker representing the viewpoint of specidlists in operations research. The Commission Reports recommended combining the offfices of RMP and Comprehensive Health Planning and many of the discussants had similar thoughts while at the same time recognizing the overwhelming proportion of deatlf from heart disease, cancer and stroke.
