Dear Mrs. Lasker:
Thanks, first of all, for your very generous check for my campaign.  I appreciate it more than I can tell you.  You were good to help me out at a time when we are really running short on funds for radio, publicity, and all the other expenses of a campaign.  I never realized money went so fast in one operation.
Then, too, thanks for your trouble in making out a duplicate check.  I guess my secretary told you how our maid mistakenly threw out some correspondence, including your check, as she thought it was to be discarded.
I do want to talk to you about a state health program after this is all over, as you suggest.  I am more convinced every day that we should have a good broad health program here in the State, and it is one issue which I intend to press vigorously, if I am elected on November 2nd.
