My dear Miss Voorhees, I meant, before I left in June, to tell you of a change in my summer plans, which I believe is not recorded with the Appointment Bureau. There was such a rush at the last minute, that I neglected to do this. After Easter vacation, Miss Turner told me of a summer position, open in the family of Dr. Cecil K Drinker, of the Harvard School of Public Health - that of being sort of a companion to the two children, ages 12 and 7, at their farm in Hudson, Mass. The remuneration for the summer was to be $300. Because of the opportunity to be among scientific people, (Mrs. D. is also an M.D.), and because of the excellent pay, I thought it worth while to undertake to cancel my camp contract- with Camp Highfields. Miss Marshall, with whom I communicated, was very lovely about it, agreed with me entirely, and cancelled the contract. I went to Boston, and interviewed the Drinkers, which resulted in my obtaining the position. So I am here in Hudson being a "governess" instead of teaching tennis in Maine. May I thank you again for offering me the position in Maine. The interview I had with Miss Marshall was very satisfactory, and she has asked me to come some summer in a medical capacity. I hope you will have a pleasant summer,- not too busy,- but I can hardly imagine your being idle. Very truly yours, Virginia Apgar
