Aug 2, 1979 Dear Maxine: Thank you so much for sending of the reprint of our publication. I am very happy to get it and appreciate for your perfect preparation of the paper. I am sorry that I did not write a letter for a long time. Fortunately, I have been quite busy after coming back to Japan. I am now working on the chemistry of sea weeds, isolation and structural study of new biologically active amino acids or peptides. In the end of June, Dr. Shiba had attended to the 6th American Peptide Symposium at Washington D.C. At that time, I had requested him to visit you to get the reprint. Although he could not meet you, he had a nice talk with Tom and Theresa and we knew that you did not get the reprint yet. However, I received it soon after his coming back. By the way, I would like to get more reprints, 20-30 copies if possible, because I am receiving more than 20 reprint order right now and the request is still coming. It is great pleasure to know that so many researchers are interested in our work. Well, how are you, your family, and your section members. I guess everybody is taking a wonderful summer vacation. Did you enjoy skin diving in this summer? I hope you will not meet with shark any more. Please remember me to Ron, Tom, Theresa, and other section members. With very best regards, Sincerely, Tateaki Wakamiya
