Congratulations to you on the new post at Worcester. It sounds like a good set-up, both for you and for Joy (whose letter followed yours by a week). I have spoken both with Sachs and with Winocour about your letter. Unfortunately neither of them have any likely candidates at present, but both will keep you in mind.
I myself am slowly learning enough about SV40 and about hybridization techniques so that I can think constructively. And I may even get something accomplished during the year. The tissue culture set-up here is excellent and makes the day-to-day problems in such work routine and simple. I am working on the observation made by Winocour quite a while ago, that under certain conditions SV40 picks up host sequences. From my point of view then, your absence from the NIH scene will be a real loss when I return.
