I would like to thank you for participating in our recent hearings on recombinant DNA legislation and especially for preparing testimony on such short notice. We are now carefully evaluating the information and suggestions presented in the hearing in order to develop sound legislation which will both adequately protect the public and the environment from potential harm and encourage rather than repress free scientific inquiry.
