My dear President Macfarlane:
I wish to express my deep appreciation to you and the members of the Medical Women's National Association for inviting me to serve on the Special Committee to cooperate in the campagin to raise funds for the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania.  I am exceedingly sorry that I feel unable to have my name added to your Committee for I find myself sceptical as to the necessity and the wisdom of maintaining a medical school by and for women at this time in the United States.
