March 28, 1962 Dear Victor: We shall miss Barton Childs. By now you have undoubtedly received my affirmative reaction to inviting Professor Dintzis as a member of the staff. With Childs and Coleman both out we need strengthening in the biochemical area. Of course, there is so much material to be covered that we can easily shift the emphasis a little bit from year to year, depending upon the staff actually available. I should like to encourage you to select one or both of the negro professors from Howard. I can't absolutely guarantee that they will encounter no discrimination or that there will be no embarrassing situations. If the Fuller apartment is not rented for the whole summer we would be happy to rent to one of them, providing they have no children. The apartment is just too small for more than a couple. I visited the school this week and believe that we can set things up very conveniently for conduct of the course. I hope that you will be able to spend a couple of days with me in arranging final details. There are alternative uses of space which you are in a better position to judge than I. With best regards, Sincerely yours, John L. Fuller
