December 31, 1964 Dear Dr. Kornberg: There have been several important developments in the field of purine-pyrimidine cocrystallization during this past year which I thought would be of special interest to you. In particular, there is a possibility that a correlation exists between the de novo synthesis of the perfectly alternating dAT copolymer and the Hoogsteen pairing configuration found in the adenine-thymine crystalline complexes. I have therefore taken the liberty of sending you a copy of my research proposal which describes this in considerable detail. I would greatly appreciate your comments about this. My best regards to you. Sincerely yours, Henry M. Sobell
