Dear Paul, Roger and I would very much like to know more about the rings of SV 40 DNA covered by histone. What is the contraction ratio? (I think you said about 10). Are these rings only partly covered by histone, and if so, does the uncovered region have a variable length or some typical value? If so, what is it? Are the uncovered bits DNA? And are they single-stranded, double-stranded or 4-stranded? Do the uncovered bits always occur at the same place on the DNA? etc. Anything you could tell us would be most gratefully received. Yours ever, Francis P.S. Do you see any apparently non-circular molecules covered with histone?
