Thank you for your note about Avery. I am glad to see that we have very similar views about trying to turn Avery into a Mendel.  There is a very interesting story to tell here, about the interaction of disciplines-- but the events themselves show the most fruitful development imaginable for the period from 1944 on.  I was glad to see the rejoinder by Olby, to Wyatt, which may serve even better than my own letter to correct the perspective.
