June 20, 1995 Dear Libby, Lois joins me in conveying our heart felt feelings of sorrow and loss in learning of Chris' death. Although it has been a long time since we last saw each other, Chris was always very much in our thoughts. I feel that it has been a great loss that I did keep more in contact. As you must know, Chris played a major role in the lives of many young scientists, and I was certainly no exception. I can truthfully say that whatever I have been able to accomplish is attributable to a great extant [sic] to Chris' influence and example. Never one to preach or even attempt to instruct, Chris taught be example -- and is [sic] example is always before me. His love for science, for individual initiative, for people, for Israel, for personal integrity -- all of these are the legacy that he gave in life and that he leaves behind in death. For me, being is [sic] freand [sic], colleague, and student, are great treasures. Fondly, Charles Epstein
