IN the great cities of Egypt, ago, it.was tfie custom 
to take all the supposed incurable nirp^j^mn*imrrfrtTgtfirirlrrt place,

3 The Safest and Best Internal Remedy. 
It is safe to take Brandreth’s Pills at any time, b#L to get tho best 
results they should be taken on an empty stomach, going to bed. It is 
well on the night you take them to eat little or no supper. As no two 
people are affected precisely the same by a like quantity of the same 
medicine, it is difficult to determine the dose; and it is something which 
must bo loft to the discretion of tho patients. Wo will say, though, tho 
average doso for an adult is from four to ten, according to effect. 
For Constipation or Dyspepsia, one or two taken every night will, in a 
short time, perform an absolute cure. It is well to take a purgative at 
least onco or twico a month as a preventive of disease, and as these Pills

Cure of Vertigo.

Brandreth’s Pills are tho only internal medicine I have used in 
the last fifteen years. I have never had to call in a doctor in that time, 
as these vegetable purgative Pills, in doses of from seven to ten, have 
cured me of Colds, Dyspepsia, Constipation, Rheumatism and Bilious 
Derangements. Some months ago they saved my life. I was token very 
dizzy, great fullness of the head. I fell near my door-steps and was 
carried into my house; my wife gave me ten Brandretii’s Pills and put 
my feet in hot water, as a violent chill camo on. I lay unconscious for 
some hours, when tho Pills acted powerfully as an emetic and purgative; 
I felt better almost immediately. I took some hot water flavored with 
peppermint and soon fell asleep; I woke up next day weak but well. I 
continued for three days to take five Pills on retiring, and have been in 
vigorous health over since. The green bilo I vomited and tho dark 
evacuations showed I was in great danger, but was happily saved by

and I am glad to find they are just as good now as Avhen I took them in

On the 27th of February, 1883, I was taken with a violent Pain in the 
region of the Kidneys. I suffered such agony that I could hardly stand 
up. As soon as possiblo I applied two Allcock’s Porous Plasters, one 
over each kidney, and laid down. In an hour, to my surprise and delight, 
the pain had vanished and I was well. I wore the Plasters for a day or

During my temporary residence hero the past winter I contracted a 
severe Cold, which for a time confined me to my room and rendered me

which usually attend a heavy cold, but was afflicted with a tightness in 
the chest, accompanied with a severe pain, which made breathing difficult

Opinion of Dr. MOTT, late Government Chemist, on

My investigation of Allcock’s Porous Plaster shows it to contain 
valuable and essential constituents not present in any other Plaster. These 
ingredients are so perfectly proportioned, that the Allcock’s Porous

I have had much experience with Allcock’s Porous Plasters and 
use them freely in my practice. They have performed wonderful cures 
in Coughs, Pulmonary and Kidney Difficulties. 
For Rheumatism I consider them a specific; in Weak Back, Spinal 
Irritability and Nervous Debility there is nothing so quick and effective 
as Allcock’s Porous Plasters. For Neuralgia, even in its worst form, 
that of the heart, I have seen Allcock’s Porous Plasters afford almost 
instant relief. 
For all Female Complaints, one or two Allcock’s Porous Plasters 
on the small of the back havo saved much pain and inconvenience. 
Allcock’s Porous Plasters act as nature’s assistant, giving all the 
diseased and defective organs pristine health and perfect regularity. 
I could cite and relate many instances of magical cures by Allcock’s 
Porous Plasters, but it is a waste of time, sufficient that as a conscien- 
tious physician, with no prejudices, I recommond them as the best 
external remedy ever invented. They leave no mark on the tenderest 
skin, and never irritate or cause sores or ulcerations like some of the 
many imitations of this wonderful remedy.

After trying all of the recently introduced Plasters, I have abandoned 
them all as being too irritating when applied to a painful surface. None of 
them equal Allcock’s. An efficient Plaster should relieve by absorption, 
not by irritation; therefore capsicum and like drugs fail and prove 
harmful.

My specialty is diseases of women and children. I like Allcock’s 
Porous Plasters because they are so quick and efficient, and 
never irritate or mark the tenderest skin. I have found them most 
useful in my practice, and they are certainly the best Plasters now mado. 
To illustrate: my son of ten years of age took a bad Cold and coughed 
incessantly ; no medicine would relieve him ; after some twelve hours I 
applied an Allcock’s Porous Plaster to his throat and upper chest. 
The Cough ceased entirely in an hour, and the next day the boy was well. 
I told the case to a gentleman who suffered in the same way, he, too, 
was cured in twenty-four hours of his Cough by Allcock’s Porous 
Plasters. Another patient suffered from Pain in the small of the back— 
Allcock’s Porous Plaster was applied at night and next morning the 
pain had ceased. Again, a young lady suffering from Neuralgic Pains 
around the heart, by my advice used Allcock’s Porous Plasters, and 
was entirely cured in three days. Finally, a lady came to me with Cold 
Feet, which constantly recurred night and day—this sometimes is a 
symptom of Uterine Congestion—I applied an Allcock’s Porous Plaster 
to the sole of each foot, and her feet got and continued warm. She 
wore the Plasters over a week. 
Thus I have recently tried Allcock’s Porous Plasters from the 
soles of the feet to the throat, and take great pleasuro in bearing witness 
to their remarkable curative power.

Though it may be irregular for a physician to give a certificate in 
favor of a proprietary medicine, still, in the cause of humanity, I venture 
to say a word in favor of Allcock’s Porous Plasters, which I esteem the 
most remarkable external remedy of this century. 
I have known those Plasters to cure Spinal Weakness where the 
patient had been confined for months to his bed. A blacksmith of my 
acquaintance was severely injured in tho back by tho kick of a horse; 
four Allcock’s Porous Plasters quickly relieved him of excruciating 
agony and cured him in a week. Another patient, suffering with 
Neuralgia of tho Heart, was completely cured in four hours. 
In Asthma, I know of a case where they wero worn for three months 
and fully restored the health. In another case where a patient had 
Sporadic Cholera, nothing relieved him until he put on threo Allcock’s 
Porous Plasters ; in twelve hours all pains in his chest and stomach 
disappeared. I know that these Plasters, applied on the pit of the 
stomach, are a sovereign remedy for Dyspepsia and Constipation. 
Finally, if persons once use Allcock’s Porous Plasters they will 
never use any other; they aro so pleasant, quick and painless—nature’s 
balmy assistant.

I have long felt it my duty to write you a letter—a duty I owe 
to the public also—to show you what a wonderful cure your Pills have 
effected, assisted by Allcock’s Porous Plaster ; theso two articles I lirst 
heard of by reading your Calendar of 1878. 
In 1876 I had an operation performed by Dr. Atlee, of our city, now 
deceased, of an Ovarian Tumor, weighing thirteen pounds. Was married 
in 1868, had three children, and in November, 1878, my husband died. In 
December I felt my old complaint returning, when I called in my Doctor, 
who said I was not mistaken, and that I had another Tumor. An 
operation was suggested, but I said “No! not now, when I have three 
children dependent upon me! ” so I applied an Allcock’s Porous Plaster 
on tho parts where the incision had been made at the operation, which 
had taken tho form of a Iiupture, thereby linding such relief as to wear 
them constantly; nor do I think I shall ever give up wearing them, as 
they seem to strengthen me and take the place of a bandage. I had 
during this time taken muriate of ammonia, but did not find myself 
decreasing in size, nor was I entirely free from pain, so I determined last 
October to effect a cure, if possible, by taking Brandreth’s Pills, four 
at bed-time and two in the morning, for a week, then resting a few 
days, and continuing again with the same number of Pills. The change 
was so perceptible, that when I had occasion to call in my Doctor in 
January, for the children, ho asked me what I had taken; I told "him, and 
upon examination found scarcely any signs of a tumor, and am happy to 
say he acknowledged their good effect upon another lady patient. 
On Sunday, the 12th inst., my mother had a stroke of Paralysis, 
thereby losing the use of the left arm and leg, when suddenly, on Thurs- 
day, I thought of Allcock’s Porous Plaster. I applied one to both 
parts, and am happy to say, Saturday eve she had a cramp, as she termed 
it, in the left leg, and to-day I find she can move the left shoulder to tho 
elbow. Do you not think I can have hopes ? and if there is any further 
advice you could give, I shall thankfully receive the same.

I desire to add my testimony to the many you have received. We have 
used Allcock’s Porous Plasters a number of years for the many “ills 
that flesh is heir to,” receiving the needed benefit every time; but"that 
which brought their virtue to the most severe test, was a hurt that my mother 
received by the Sixth Avenue cars, in May last. Sho was pushed off back- 
wards by a drunken conductor, and her knee and hip severely wrenched 
or sprained. 
The nerves of the hip and kneo were in such a state, and the agony so 
great, she could not be still a moment. As soon as we could get her home 
I placed her feet in hot water, but that made her almost wild; I took 
thorn from the hot water as soon as possible, and not knowing what else 
to do, I covered the wholo limb from the hip to the foot with Allcock’s 
Porous Plasters, and the relief was almost instantaneous, and up to 
this day, all the relief, and the only relief, she can get, is through and by 
your Plasters. Bheumatic Gout set into one of the largo toes, and no 
one can tell the misery that she suffered. I cut small strips of your 
Porous Plasters and covered the entire toe, nail and all, and she is 
entirely cured. It is certain to cure that, if one will only try it, for I 
have told two other parties that suffered in the same way, and it entirely 
cured them. 
I do not know what we should do without them, for if we have a Cold, 
or Sore Throat, the first thing is to cover the throat, chest and back 
with Allcock’s Porous Plasters, and, behold ! the soroness and pain is 
all gone as if by magic. 
Last week mother was threatened with Pneumonia; we covered the 
entire chest and back with your plasters, and in less than an hour the 
danger was passed, and the pain, heat and tightness all gone. 
I often have a severe pain under my right shoulder, caused by liver 
trouble; by wearing a plaster a little while, the pain ceases. 
Wo have tried many other kinds of Plasters, but never found any 
to equal Allcock’s.

I first tried Allcock’s Porous Plasters for a heavy Cold on my 
Chest; I put two Plasters on and they worked liko magic, and in three hours 
I felt better. My chest got very weak at ono time from a heavy Cold, I 
used them, and to-day I havo as strong and sound a chest as any man 
living. About seven years ago I was bothered some with scvcro Pains 
about my Heart, at times it troubled me quite a good deal; somo told ino 
it was Eheumatism of tho Heart; I went for Allcock’s Porous Plaster 
and put it on; wore one until it came off; I put on another and I haven’t 
felt any trouble there for a long time, except I take a heavy Cold and then 
I put on the Plaster. 
I have used them with my children in Colds for seven years. • I put 
Plasters on back and chest, and in a short time they are out playing, all 
right. Three years ago we were moving some heavy machinery, I got a 
Stitch in my Back and Side, so bad I could hardly move—it brought on 
Piles also. I was out of Plaster so I used somo liniment, but it did not 
help mo much. I sent next morning and got some Allcock’s Porous 
Plasters, of which I put two on the small of my back; by next day I felt 
as though I could lift again, my back felt as strong as ever, and in a few 
days the Piles left me. 
A great many of our workmen have used them for Cuts, Bruises and
