Blank Applications and other papers pertaining to the Association can be obtained from the Secretary, and also from Medical Officers at Military Posts. 111. All Remittances should be in the name of the Treasurer of the Association, and preferably by fl'liecK on Sew York, or by Money Postal Order on Postmaster, Washington, D. C. IV. Medical Officers of the Army, including Contract Physicians, ex- amining Applicants, are requested to make their signatures official. A'. Inquiries are frequently made as to the object of requiring two assessments in advance, as well as an initiation fee. Under the By-Laws, as soon as a claim shall have been passed by the Executive Committee, there must be paid at once to the beneficiary at least one-half the total amount due upon the claim, and the remainder within sixty days. To enable this to be done without waiting for the collection of assessments from all parts of the country, it is necessary that a small reserve should be maintained, which is renewed as soon as drawn upon by a new assessment, required by the By-Laws to be levied im- mediately upon the death of a member.
