On August 1 and 23, 1939, the United States attorneys for the District of 
Columbia and the Southern District of Texas filed libels against 36 cartons 
of candy at Washington, D. C, and 62 boxes of candy at Houston, Tex., 
alleging that the article had been shipped in interstate commerce on or about 
January 9 and June 16, 1939, by the Schutter Candy Co. from Brooklyn, N. Y., 
and Chicago. Ill.; and charging that it was adulterated in that it consisted in 
whole or in part of a filthy substance. The article was labeled in part: 
"Schutter's Bit-O-Honey Sugar Toasted Almonds"; or "Schutters Golden 
Harvest."
On August 24 and September 27, 1939, no claimant having appeared, judg- 
ments of condemnation were entered and the product was ordered destroyed.
