<dc:subject>Tuberculosis, Pulmonary</dc:subject>
<dc:description>A doctor seated at a desk explains to a group of young people standing around him that tuberculosis has caused illness amongst humans for hundreds of years, and then tells a story that illustrates the cause, spread, and treatment of tuberculosis. John, a young boy, is exposed to the disease through a friendly kiss from his aunt, who is infected but doesn't realize it. John gets older and doesn't have symptoms, but is reinfected as a teen. Diagrams, illustrations, and x-ray images show germs colonizing John's lungs, and mild symptoms of infection including fatigue and coughing are described. John's illness is finally identified when all the students at his high school are given TB tests, and his is positive. As a result, his family members are tested, and John's aunt is finally diagnosed and begins treatment in a sanatorium. Shots include tubercle bacilli.</dc:description>
