Nurses Leper Colonies Nurse-Patient Relations This black and white photographic postcard shows three male patients and a female nurse outside building at the leper colony at Orofara, Tahiti. The colony was established in 1914 by the French colonial government. The nurse wears a long white uniform with a large black bow at the throat and a white veil.
