Meeting the needs of diverse family caregivers Insight on the issues (AARP Public Policy Institute) Black or African American -- psychology Caregivers -- psychology Ethnicity Health Services Needs and Demand Hispanic or Latino -- psychology Family caregivers are assuming ever-increasing responsibilities for managing health care at a time when the older adult population in the United States is becoming more racially and ethnically diverse. This Insight on the Issues highlights themes that emerged from discussions with family caregivers, and with nurses and social workers about their attitudes toward family caregivers and the health care and social service systems in which they work. The research identifies barriers that hinder effective collaboration between diverse family caregivers and health care professionals.
