  <dc:description>This article presented more results of the Veterans Administration Cooperative Study on Antihypertensive Agents, for which Freis received the Lasker Award in 1972. This report primarily followed up on various earlier reports that indicated that particular electrocardiographic abnormalities associated with hypertension sometimes reverted to normal following treatment. Since these earlier studies did not include controls, Freis&apos;s group argued that they could not provide an adequate quantitative assessment of the benefits of antihypertensive medications. They found that hypertensive patients seldom experienced electrocardiographic reversions following drug treatment.</dc:description>
