<dc:title>Telegram from Ludwig Benda, Science Service to Oswald T. Avery</dc:title>
<dc:description>In this telegram, Benda informed Avery that he had been awarded the Paul Ehrlich Gold Medal for his research on the structure of pneumococcal capsular polysaccharides. Benda asked that Avery also inform his colleague Michael Heidelberger that he was awarded the "Silver Cast" award for the same research. Incidentally, shortly before Ehrlich's death, Benda was a chemist and associate of Ehrlich at Farbwerke Cassella near Frankfurt.</dc:description>
