Evidence on the effectiveness of programs, models, and strategies to support employment outcomes of young adults on the autism spectrum: a review of the literature
In a recent literature review, we summarized programs, models, and strategies that support the transition to competitive integrated employment for young adults with developmental disabilities, including autism. In this report, we build on that review to summarize the evidence on the effectiveness of those approaches. We also assess whether that evidence is growing, lacking, consistent, or divergent. Together, the two reviews will help DOL identify promising research opportunities it can pursue through the Research Support Services for Employment of Young Adults on the Autism Spectrum (REYAAS) project to improve employment outcomes for young adults on the autism spectrum.
