The purpose of this scoping review was to understand how Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) were used in studies exploring their potential associations with increased risk for COVID-19 infection and COVID-19-related outcomes, including SDOH data elements definitions, characteristics, and measures. The research questions were: (1) Which SDOH are associated with increased risk for COVID-19 infection? (2) Which SDOH are associated with COVID-19-related outcomes? COVID-19-related outcomes may include (but were not limited to) the following: Long COVID-19, hospitalization, intubation, ventilation, severe COVID-19 symptoms, intensive care unit admission, co-infection, complications, long recovery time, or death. In general, a variety of adverse SDOH were significantly associated with increased COVID-19 testing, test positivity, cases, exposure, mortality, and hospitalization.
