Key findings. How to recruit fathers for human services programs: (1) Encourage referrals through word of mouth; (2) Tailor recruitment materials to fathers; (3) Tap into social networks for additional support; (4) Engage fathers in the community; (5) Position staff to market the program; (6) Offer incentives and support How to keep fathers engaged in programming; (7) Make the program office father-friendly; (8) Meet fathers where they are on their fatherhood journey; (9) Design flexible programs; (10) Incorporate fun activities into the program structure; (11) Create peer-learning opportunities; (12) Use technology to stay in touch; (13) Communicate the program’s dedication to including fathers; (14) Hire and train staff to relate to fathers.
