This program shows Colles' fracture which is produced by forces transmitted through the thenar eminence to the bones of the forearm with the wrist in a position of fixed extension. This activity is illustrated on both a live model and a cadaver. Circular cast splints are placed on the wrist in three different positions. Movement of the fingers is encouraged, baking and massage is performed in the splint. X-rays of a typical Colles' fracture and fracture after reduction in the splint is shown.
